Unit 6

1. Capture relative size. This image captures the enormous size of the anchor of the USS Arizona in porportion to me at 5'6".




2. Use the two-thirds rule. The focus of this image is at the lower left intersection if the image was divided into thirds horizontally and vertically. It makes for a very interesting composition.

3. Consider Background. The pool water in this image creates a great background because it does not distract from the focus but the translucency of the pool water creates texture and visual interest.

4. Get Close. This image is a close up of a leopard crab which is very small but in porportion to the individual grains of sand it is quite large.

5. Capture Depth. This image captures depth through the use of perspective. The lines left by the mower on the grass in the field and the road all converge at the vanishing point where the mountains meet the tree line.

6. Capture color contrast. This image captures color contrast well with the orange pumpkins dotting the green landscape.

7. Use lighting. This image uses lighting similar to caravaggio where there is a strong use of directional light with dramatic emphasis on light and shade.

8. Capture natural poses. This image suggests motion because the dog is chasing the birds which is totally natural for a jack russell.


9. Find frames. This image finds frames in the windshield of the boat.

10. Use Texture. This image uses the coquina shells as texture in the background.
